ECOSYSTEM UPDATES

Cardano continues to demonstrate consistent progress across multiple dimensions of its ecosystem. Currently, there are 2,005 projects actively building on the blockchain, while delegated wallets reached 1.33 million, reflecting steady staking participation. Transaction volume increased modestly, now totaling 111.26 million.

Cardano now supports 10.84 million native tokens across 217,780 distinct token policies, highlighting ongoing asset creation and deployment. Smart contracts also maintain solid growth, with 139,225 Plutus scripts and 7,888 Aiken scripts live on the network. Governance activity is stable, with 1,378 DReps (including 975 active representatives) contributing to decentralization. Developer engagement remains robust, shown by 306 GitHub commits, marking an 18% increase in technical contributions since last week.

• The Cardano Foundation has launched Reeve, an open-source tool designed for on-chain financial reporting, and also published their 2024 Financial Insights Report using this new solution

• Intersect announced a partnership with SundaeSwap to manage treasury oversight for the upcoming 39 withdrawal governance actions

• Input Output has partnered with TxPipe to accelerate developer community growth in Argentina, strengthening regional blockchain innovation

• The Ouroboros Leios research has been accepted at Crypto 2025, a highly prestigious cryptography conference, showcasing Cardano’s ongoing research excellence

• Vespr Wallet has open-sourced its SDKs, providing developers with powerful tools to seamlessly integrate wallets into their decentralized applications (DApps).

CORE TECHNOLOGY

This week, the consensus team introduced mempool optimizations, fixed a bug in the Byron deserialization of ledger tables, and added node-to-node CDDL specifications. They also started work on extending the Haskell simulator to support individual transaction additions and implemented support for taking ledger snapshots at predictable intervals.

SMART CONTRACTS

This week, the Plutus Core team made significant progress, merging support for case analysis on booleans and integers, and initiating its extension to built-in lists. They also refined the Plutus Core specification by rectifying constructor tag encodings and released a new tool to output cost model parameters in a node-compatible format, streamlining the integration of new primitives and updates.

In the Plinth project, the team introduced and merged a new compiler optimization, pushing force nodes into case branches. They also reimplemented the linear vesting script in plutus-benchmarks to benchmark compiler performance and pinpoint further optimization opportunities.

Finally, the formal methods team integrated the plutus-metatheory package into the CHaP release process, in preparation for the release of the compiler certifier alongside the Plinth compiler.

SCALING

This week, the Leios team demonstrated the 1,000 TPS experiment, validating the protocol’s ability to operate at extremely high throughput levels. They also completed a comprehensive attack surface analysis and made substantial improvements to simulation and verification tools. Read this report for more details.

The Mithril team continued implementing the mock DMQ node to support end-to-end testing of decentralized signature diffusion and worked on certificate chain synchronization in the follower aggregator. They also completed era transition support in the clients, enabled Linux ARM binary support in the CI, and began preparing for the upgrade to Cardano node v.10.5.

Finally, they upgraded the repository to the Rust 2024 edition and made progress refactoring the STM cryptographic library.

The Hydra team has been focused on supporting Midnight Glacier Drop, specifically by fixing a bug related to replaying large state files. They are preparing to include this fix in Hydra version 0.22.2. Additionally, the team is continuing to enhance the system's resilience during restarts, particularly when processing high transaction volumes.

VOLTAIRE 

Intersect has developed a new smart contract framework to manage Cardano’s treasury securely, transparently, and auditably on-chain. It uses treasury and vendor contracts to hold funds and release them based on milestone delivery, with a multi-signature system ensuring Intersect initiates actions while an independent oversight committee verifies key steps. This prevents unilateral fund movement and strengthens trust, accountability, and scalability in treasury operations. The framework will serve as the destination for all treasury withdrawal governance actions, with 39 proposals set for submission in epoch 569/570. CATALYST

The Catalyst team has recently hosted town hall #196, nearing their 200th session. This event celebrated completed projects and showcased the ongoing progress of the ecosystem. If you missed it, the recording is available here.

This week, the education team has been focused on content and graphics for the Mastering Cardano book, as well as updates to the Cardano education program, including a new zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs module.
